Fall EQUIP Discipleship Classes @ Grace

EQUIP is our discipleship program and we are offering two eight-week courses this Fall beginning Wed., Sept. 22, from 6-7:30pm and ending on Wed., Nov. 10:

  • “How People Change” will be taught by Pastor Cliff in The Pointe Cafe

Description: Tim Chester in his book, “You Can Change”, wrote these words, “The glorious good news of Jesus is that you and I can change. Part of [our] problem is we often try to change in the wrong way.”  In “How People Change” we’ll explore the biblical basis and the biblical methods for change.  But, you should know in advance, it is not a how-to-course per se. Changing into the image of Jesus Christ is not the product of following a formula. Change is the product of the Holy Spirit working through the Word to make His people rely more and more upon the joy that comes from being a gospel people. Lord willing, we’ll explore that gospel and its implications for daily life.

  • “Critical Theory vs. Biblical Identity & Unity” will be taught by Pastor James in Room 119

Description: In this class we will examine one of the most dominant and talked-about philosophies in our society, critical theory.  We will: (1) trace the historical progression of critical theory; (2) how  theory is being applied in queer theory, critical race theory, feminism and gender studies, disability and fat studies, and in the social justice movement; and (3) how critical theory moves against a biblical definition of identity and unity.

More detailed info about these classes is available in your Grace Weekly Email or you can call the Church Office for info and/or to register.
